Surabaya (19/1) - Throughput 2023, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) managed to record an increase in container flows of 1,449,641 TEUs, an increase of 6.11% compared to the previous year. This achievement was obtained from the contribution of international containers recorded at 1,375,927 TEUs and domestic containers of 73,713 TEUs.
Starting 2024, TPS as one of the subsidiaries of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas Subholding (SPTP) serves the first berthing of ships owned by Hapag-Lloyd shipping, MV. Jakarta Express in early January 2024. The ship with a length of 260 meters and a capacity of 4,672 TEUs carried out its first loading and unloading in Surabaya to Singapore.
Not only that, in January 2024, TPS received 3 ships, each of which is regularly operated by RCL on CS2/RCI service with MV ships. Whutthi Bhum, later OOCL with MV. Xin Yan Tai on China 1/CIP 1 service and Cosco operating MV Xin Qing Dao on KCS/NIS 1 service. The joint service was carried out together with CNC (CMA CGM Group) to the Philippines, China, Hong Kong transshipment, Singapore and Malaysia.
President Director of TPS, Wahyu Widodo said that throughout 2023 there have been 8 new services served through TPS, thus greatly contributing to increasing the flow of TPS containers throughout 2023. "Alhamdulillah, at the beginning of 2024, we have received several joining services through TPS, this is a good start to realize the 2024 target," said Wahyu.
Throughout 2023, TPS continues to make transformation efforts in improving loading and unloading services through various supporting factors, including improving bridge access structures, raising some stacking areas in UV and Quarantine blocks, to updating the TPS digitization system that continues to be developed to provide convenience coverage for all TPS customers.
In addition, TPS also developed an IT upgrade system that supports the development of ports towards digital port terminals, ranging from online Container Damage Report (CDR), custom behandle management system (development of an application system to accelerate the Customs and Excise inspection process by eliminating the TKBM subscription system changed with a queue system) and gate automation.
Not only that, as a form of effort to realize a sustainable port, or what is often referred to as a "sustainable port", which is a port management and development concept that considers its impact on the environment, society, and economy in a balanced manner, in order to maintain its business sustainability, TPS has carried out mangrove cultivation. In 2023, TPS has harvested 10,200 mangrove seedlings, and earlier this year it was ready to harvest 4 thousand mangrove seedlings.
A thousand tree planting program in the TPS environment, where these tree seeds are obtained from collaboration with waste management companies through the exchange of B3 waste with tree seeds, so that TPS is able to convert B3 waste into O2.
Fuel saving programs on several loading and unloading equipment at TPS, ranging from optimizing hot seat change, optimizing the use of ITV, optimizing operational planning, including innovation in installing inverters on RTG and ITV.
In mid-2023, TPS also began electrifying equipment at RTG, where progress is currently still in the stage of making power cable lines, so it is targeted that the electrification of 30 RTG units at TPS will be completed in 2025.
As for the 2024 work plan, TPS will integrate the TOS (Terminal Operation System) Nusantara information system that is connected to all terminals in Indonesia managed by Pelindo. Meanwhile, in terms of facilities, international dock dredging will be carried out regularly every year, while in terms of equipment, maintenance will continue to be carried out on the equipment, so that the performance of TPS will be maintained in 2024.
"We will continue to strive to improve our services, both for existing services and subsequent new services, so we are optimistic that the target in 2024 of 1.4 million TEUs will be achieved," added Wahyu.
In addition, TPS also recorded an increase in loading and unloading performance, namely at 58 boxes / ship / hour, far above the loading and unloading performance of 48 boxes / ship / hour set by the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority Office in Surabaya.
